A Residential Therapist

  • Provides clinical and therapeutic services to East Mountain Youth Lodge residents and their families.
  • Leads parent training and family groups. 
  • Will have opportunities for both independent and team-based clinical work.
     

Qualifications


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Master's degree in social work or counseling
  • Minimum of 5 years of post MSW and/or Masters of Counseling experience.
  • Proficiency with policy review and program planning.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities.
  • Trained in individual and group psychotherapy techniques.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology and differential diagnosis and treatment techniques.

Licenses and Certifications: 

  • New Jersey Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or New Jersey Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • National Association of Social Workers Supervisor Cert.

 

* Weekly supervision is provided for full licensure

Responsibilities


Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic’s East Mountain Youth Lodge  is a premier youth residential program that provides a continuum of out of home residential treatment services for adolescents between the ages of 13-18. We provide 24 hour clinical, therapeutic treatment for emotional, behavioral, psychiatric and substance abuse difficulties based on the resident strengths and needs.

 

A Residential Therapist :

  • Completes relevant social assessment
  • Provides individual, group and family therapy for residents of the East Mountain Youth Lodge.
  • Acts as liaison to school therapists regarding coordination of clinical care.
  • Works closely with Residential Counselors/Technicians to develop treatment goals and strategies for assigned residents.
  •  In conjunction with the Clinical Supervisor, writes treatment plans in accordance with licensing standards.
  •  Writes joint care reviews and strength and needs assessments according to requirements.
  •  Maintains up-to-date, accurate written record of all client and collateral contact.
  •  Works closely with residential psychiatrist to manage medication, obtains informed consent from client and parents, and ensures that all releases and clinical documentation is completed and in order.
  •  Arranges all family contact and furloughs and documents this weekly in communication/pass books.
  •  Writes discharge summaries, letters, contracts and any other clinical documentation required.
  •  Develops a comprehensive after care recommendation.
  •  Works professionally and cooperatively with all hospital staff and programs.
  •  Maintains contact with sending districts, Child Study Teams, private therapists and agencies.

 

This position is Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.  Occasional evening may be neccessary for family
